RUSENG

STEPAN LUKYANOV

Artist and designer.

Born in 1976 into a family of artists.

 

Studied at MSKhSh (Moscow's Tomsky College of Art, sculpture department).

1992 to 1996 studied and worked at Boris Yukhananov's Studio of Individual Directing (MIR) on the Orchard  project (assisting set designer Yury Kharikov).

1995 to 1999 studied at the Academy of Painting of the Nesterova Humanitarian University (under V.A. Kulakov and S.A. Alimov).

1990 founds the Mu-seum art group with A. Silvestrov, D. Troitsky and M. Ignatyev. The group put together over 20 actions, performances and expositions between 1990 and 1994.

2000 becomes a member of the Moscow Union of Artists (deputy chair of the poster section since 2010).

2004 to 2012 collaborates with CTC Media holding company.

2004 to present has served as the art director of the CINE FANTOM Film Club.

2011 was art director of the Moscow Design Museum.

2014 to present has been a member of the Directorate of the Moscow Union of Artists.

2014 to present has been the art director of the Stanislavsky Electrotheatre.

 

Has been a participant of many Russian and international exhibits, competitions and festivals, including:

2005 – Silver Prize at the PROMAX festival in London for ID-videos for the Domashniy (Home) Channel.

2005 – First Prize at OSPAAAL (Organization of Solidarity with the People of Asia, Africa and Latin America) for his poster titled Las Bombas No Matan El Hambre (F. Castro).

2011 – nomination for an Innovation prize in the category of Theory, Criticism and Art Studies (as a member of CINE FANTOM team).

2012 – nominated for OUTDOOR MEDIA’s 2011 Poster of the Year prize.

2016 – nominated for Golden Mask award for best set design in a musical production for Drillalians (Stanislavsky Electrotheatre).

2016 – Winner at the London Design Biennale 2016 for the Russian exposition of Discovering Utopia. Lost Archives Of Soviet Design.

2021 – Winner of the Golden Mask award for best set design in a musical production for Octavia. Trepanation (Stanislavsky Electrotheatre).

 

Creator of design for new brand logos for the Stanislavsky Drama Theatre in its transformation into the Stanislavsky Electrotheatre (2013-2014).

 

Production designer for the film Mayakovsky (2013-2017, directed by A. Shein, in production).

Production designer for the film Medea (2021, directed by A. Zeldovich).

Author of video art for the theatre production of The Blue Bird (2015, Stanislavsky Electrotheatre, Moscow).

Author of video art for the theatre production of The Constant Principle (2015, Stanislavsky Electrotheatre, Moscow).

Set designer for the Drillialians opera serial (2015, Stanislavsky Electrotheatre, Moscow).

Set designer for the Maniagnosis opera (2016, Stanislavsky Electrotheatre, Moscow).
